Interior

The 2023 Jeep Compass SUV seats 4 adult passengers, providing a comfortable yet functional interior space. Passenger’s legs are fully supported thanks to the back seat’s high seat bottoms–also implying that long car rides are a piece of cake. The rear seatbacks have the ability to fold down, creating enough cargo space for 17 carry-on suitcases. The overall feel of the Jeep Compass is quite the opposite boxy feeling we get on the exterior.

Exterior

We’ve already talked about the boxy exterior of the Compass, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that it can’t give a different vibe depending on the color! The 2023 Jeep Compass colors include Granite Crystal Metallic Clearcoat, Laser Blue Pearlcoat, Redline Pearcoat, and Sting-Gray Clearcoat. We’ll take one of each please! The powerful LED headlights, 17 inch painted diamond-cut aluminum wheels that are now a sophisticated black is what give the Compass such a modern, iconic look. Also, we see a slight upgrade in the seven slot grille which now has smooth edges and rounded features.

2023 Compass Performance

Like we mentioned in the beginning of this blog, the Jeep Compass is getting an engine upgrade. The new eight-speed transmission, all-wheel drive, 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four that puts out 221 lb-ft of torque and 200 hp is standard for all models. There are available upgrades for specific trims including an addition of a low “crawler” gear ratio and a Rock mode on the Trailhawk models. According to Car and Driver, their test drivers has this to say about how the 2023 Jeep Compass drives, “There is some lean during tight cornering, but overall, the Compass feels well-controlled, solidly planted, and capable on the road.”

Technology and safety features

A standard 8.4 inch infotainment screen sits on the center dashboard. Note that a 10.1 inch screen is also available for upgrade. The high tech infotainment system has advanced voice recognition and navigation, Apple CarPlay, as well as Android Auto. Standard safety features you can expect include automated emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keeping assist. You might be shocked that RAM has traded their heavy duty Power Wagon model for a more power focused design. Don’t mistake the 2023 RAM Rebel as a small truck just because it’s only a 3 seater. This baby gives 40.9 in front leg room, 39.8 in. in the front head space, and is 232 in. in length with a height of 78 in. to make up for it. RAM is also offering three different interior upgrades that include: cloth front bucket or bench seats, Bristol leather upholstery, or Natura Plus leather upholstery. Dare we call it luxurious?! YES!

Technology

On the tech side of things, the 2023 RAM 2500 Rebel doesn’t disappoint here either. It comes with a standard 360-degree surround-view camera system, an 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment center that can be upgraded to 12 inches. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, navigation, Bluetooth, SiriusXM satellite radio, HD Radio, and voice recognition are also available technology features.

Safety

This new RAM 2500 offers multiple different safety features, but most of them are optional. Some of the features include blind-spot monitoring, rearview camera mirror, lane-keeping assistance, rear cross-traffic warning, automatic high beam headlights, adaptive cruise control, and different towing modes.

Under the Hood of the 2023 Dodge RAM 2500

The 2023 RAM 2500 keeps the familiar 6.4-liter Hemi V-8 as the standard as it produces 410 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque. It also sports an eight-speed transmission which transfers power to the rear or all four wheels via two-speed transfer case. The 2023 Dodge RAM 2500 is the first heavy-duty off-road truck that has an optional diesel engine, complying to the customer’s demands from previous years. The prodigious diesel engine is expected to produce 850 pound-feet at 1700 rpm that’s routed through a 6-speed automatic transmission thanks to the 370-hp 6.7-liter turbo diesel inline-six.

2023 Dodge Hornet: A New Era

Dodge is known for its muscle cars like the Dodge Charger and the Dodge Challenger, but with 2023, Dodge is beginning their new era of cars. The 2023 Dodge Hornet is Dodge’s first Electrified car that is competing in the compact SUV market with a 265-hp turbocharged four-cylinder with all-wheel drive and a nine-speed automatic is the standard setup but the R/T model is a plug-in hybrid with 285 ponies and more than 30 miles of electric driving. Not only will the Hornet offer Dodge’s first hybrid powertrain it’ll also boast the most high-tech equipment in the brand’s lineup

Dodge’s First Electrified Car

The Dodge Hornet moves towards a subcompact SUV, it measures 178 inches long to 63.8 inches tall. The Hornet represents the company’s first Plug-in-Hybrid model with extra emphasis on the hybrid’s performance. The CEO Tim Kuniskis even billed the Hornet as the first electrified performance vehicle from Dodge.

The Hornet is Dodge’s gateway vehicle to the electric future, with its electric muscle car soon to be revealed. Not only will the Hornet offer Dodge’s first hybrid powertrain it’ll also boast the most high-tech equipment in the brand’s lineup, with standard features that include a digital gauge display, Uconnect 5 infotainment software, and automated emergency braking with pedestrian-and-cyclist detection.

2023 Dodge Hornet Performance

The Hornet GT has a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 265 horsepower and paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Dodge says the Hornet can go to 60 mph in 6.5 seconds, with the R/T PHEV model hitting 60 mph in only 6.1 seconds. The R/T model also comes with all-wheel drive and six-speed automatic transmission and a PowerShot mode.

Because the Hornet is an electric hybrid, the plug-in hybrid R/T model comes with a 12.0-kWh battery pack that Dodge says is good for over 30 miles of electric driving per charge. Charging time on a level 2 charger is around two and a half hours.

All the models for the Hornet come with a 10.3 inch infotainment touchscreen with the latest Uconnect 5 system. And with upgraded GT Plus or R/T Plus models, Dodge added a wireless smartphone charging pad. The Hornet comes packed with standard safety features. Features such as automated emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, and blindspot monitoring and parking sensors. If the Tech package is added, the Hornet has adaptive cruise control with lane centering.

2023 Dodge Hornet Design

Dodge designed the Hornet towards a ‘younger’ audience. “Younger buyers don’t need big vehicles like the Charger and Challenger, so introducing them to the brand with a smaller crossover hits them where they live,” Sam Fiorani, vice president of global vehicle forecasting for AutoForecast Solutions said, “With prices starting around $30,000, the Hornet should capture drivers who want something a little sportier than a Chevrolet Equinox or Ford Escape without the price of BMW’s and Audi’s Entry-luxury models.”

The Hornets connection to Tonale is obvious as both were built in Italy, with Dodge’s most notable design difference being the prominent heat extractors on its hood, giving the Hornet a reminiscent of more muscular models. The GT and R/T are both available with a Blacktop package that includes black 18-inch wheels along with gloss black exterior badges and mirror caps.

Inside the 2023 Dodge Hornet, everything is driver prioritized. Every model has a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Everything comes with a standard black cloth with red contrast stitching. While the GT Plus and R/T Plus trims add leather upholstery that is offered in red. The Cabin is expected to be roomy for the front and a bit tight for the rear seats. The Hornet uses the same steering wheel as the Alfa Romeo Tonale just with the Dodge logo in the center.

In fairness to the competition, the Charger is riding on a slightly older platform. Just think of it like a slight blast from the past. You won’t find semi-autonomous driving ability nor the latest in in-cabin electronics. Still, the 2022 Dodge Charger remains competitive. Dodge offers several advanced driver-assist features like blind spot assist and rear cross-traffic alerts, an excellent Uconnect infotainment system, and, on V6 models, the option of all-wheel drive.

Standard driver-safety and assists include electronic traction and stability control, full airbag coverage, anti-lock brakes, and hill start assist. A rear backup camera and rear parking sensors are also standard. The Charger offers more advanced driver assistance such as automatic emergency braking, a blind-spot monitor, and lane-keeping. However, in contrast to most competitors, these systems are optional, not standard.

The Exterior

Noting the SXT’s exterior, it reveals the simplest version of the Charger image, devoid of racing stripes, fender flares, or a hood scoop. The SXT features automatic bi-functional LED projector headlights, body-colored power side mirrors, 17-inch silver alloy wheels, and variable wipers. Power windows with driver and passenger one-touch up/down come standard, as does cruise control, proximity keyless entry with push-button start, dual-zone manual climate control, a driver information display, and a detailed gauge cluster including a tachometer, 140-mph speedometer, plus temperature and fuel gauges. The SXT gains a more powerful alternator, performance brakes, electronic stability control with sport mode, heated side mirrors, LED fog lights, 19-inch wheels, and dual-zone automatic climate control when upgraded to all-wheel drive. Also included is the Dodge Performance Pages feature that allows you to keep track of performance data, an 8-way power driver’s seat with 4-way power lumbar support, an 8.4-inch touch-screen, SiriusXM, and a performance steering wheel with paddle shifters.

It is important to mention that SXT bundled upgrade packages are available! The Alpine Audio Group includes nine Alpine speakers, an amplifier, and a powered subwoofer. At the same time, the Cold Weather Group adds heated side mirrors, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel. In addition to the SXT’s options list, the GT offers the Performance Handling Group with black Brembo fixed caliper 4-piston brakes, a flat-bottomed steering wheel, a high-performance suspension, and 20-inch Black Noise wheels with all-season performance 245/45ZR20 tires. This package is not available with all-wheel drive. Also, the Plus Group adds a blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, memory for the driver’s seat, mirrors and power steering wheel, a heated steering wheel, heated side mirrors, HID headlights, and LED interior lighting. The package also includes Nappa and Alcantara seating and 20×8-inch Satin Carbon wheels (rear-drive GT only).

2022 Dodge Charger R/T

Starting at $39,745 the R/T is the first of the Charger lineup to get as standard a 5.7-liter HEMI V8. With 370 hp on tap, this engine gives the Charger the power to reach 60 mph in just over five seconds. Beyond the big V8 engine, the R/T builds off the GT’s standard equipment list. It offers a thicker rear axle (220 mm vs. 195 mm), an active performance exhaust, 20-inch Satin Carbon wheels, and a 160-mph speedometer.

The Redeye even goes a step further with a Super Chiller system that uses A/C refrigerant to cool the supercharger after shutdown and the open airbox from the Daytona Package. Now that’s a smart car for not being a smart car. The Hellcat also gets three-mode adaptive Bilstein shocks with setting for Sport, Track, and Auto. In Auto mode, the shocks automatically adjust to road conditions, while the Sport setting firms up the ride for better high-speed maneuvers. Track mode shifts as much weight as possible over the rear wheels, helping improve traction.

Torque Reserve helps reduce supercharger lag, while HID headlights help light up the night. Blind-spot monitoring is standard, but other driver-assists found in the Technology Package are not available to the SRT Hellcat, this trim isn’t exactly for the faint of heart!

The Interior

The SRT’s price includes a power driver and passenger seat, a power tilt/telescoping steering wheel, ventilated Laguna leather front seats, and heated rear seats. The Alcantara Package upgrades the seats to Laguna leather with suede inserts and an Alcantara-wrapped flat-bottom steering wheel.
