The Jeep Cherokee debuts Stellantis' new 1.6 liter turbo four hybrid powertrain, achieving more than 500 miles of range and an estimated 37 mpg combined. Jeep is the only manufacturer to employ a turbocharged engine with Toyota's planetary Hybrid Synergy Drive setup. This system connects the engine, a motor generator, and a traction motor through a single planetary gearset. The hybrid battery packages sit under the passenger side rear floor, allowing it to avoid affecting cargo space. The plug free hybrid electric powertrain delivers four wheel drive capability with a 3,500 pound towing capacity.
