This is the EcoDiesel’s third generation and we want to share why this light-duty diesel truck surpasses the main Ford and Chevy equivalents in all the essentials. The 2020 EcoDiesel is ahead of the curve in both torque yield and maximum towing capacity, which is 12,560 pounds.

Depending on trim, the diesel engine costs between $3,000 and $3,300 more than Ram’s range-topping 5.7-liter V-8 with the eTorque motor-generator.
But get this, Ram is the FIRST of the Big Three to provide a light-duty diesel engine in every configuration of its 1500-series pickup. This means you don’t have to sacrifice your favorite 1500-series pickup configuration for a diesel engine. By making the 3.0L diesel engine available with every cab, bed, and drive configuration it sells, the workaday $38,585 Tradesman Quad Cab 2WD, Ram’s light-duty diesel truck, falls well beneath the price of Chevy’s least expensive diesel-equipped Silverado 1500, the 2WD double cab, which costs $45,200. The Tradesman Quad Cab 2WD is also significantly less expensive than Ford’s cheapest half-ton diesel, the $46,255 F-150 XLT 2WD Supercab equipped with a 6.5-foot bed.
